July 2013 Commander EDH Banned List – M14

What Cards are now Banned in EDH?

Four times a year, Magic the Gathering™ Players hold their breath in anticipation of the next problematic cards to receive the ban-hammer. For Commander/EDH, these announcements are released by a separate governing body, the EDH Rules Committee. Sheldon states that the EDH Rules Committee is happy with the current status of the format and looks forward to new interactions brought forth with the M14 rule changes.

For July 2013 I am happy to see…

NO CHANGES in the EDH Banned List

As expected, there was quite a bit of turbulence since Wizards of the Coast™ announced the new Legendary Rules that will take effect with the release of the M14 Core Set in July 2013. These fundamental changes in Magic the Gathering’s rules effect all formats, but I felt that Commander/EDH was effected the most. Since the announcement, many EDH Players have been concerned with how the rule changes would effect absurd combos, clones, increased power of Planeswalkers and hexproof generals. Players have grumbled on reasons to ban cards that have gained power from the rulechange. Cards like Sigarda, Host of Herons, Gaea’s Cradle and Iona, Shield of Emeria.

Next EDH Banned announcement should be in September 2013 with the release of the Thoros Block.
