Tribal decks are always cool to play, you get to see all of the creative synergies that Wizards of the Coast™ build into the creature type and the powers of the tribe really shine when they’re all working together. Some of the most common tribes that see play in EDH are ones like Zombies, Merfolk, and of course, Goblins.
The deck today has a tribe that spans all of Magic’s history, and it’s Wizards. More specifically, Mono-Blue. With Arcanis the Omnipotent at the helm. Wizards aren’t really known for their high power or toughness, but what they do have is incredibly game breaking effects when used in conjunction with one another. Arcanis allows us to have access to a draw engine when we need it, and the rest of the wizards work together to snowball small advantages into ones that our opponents can’t overcome. Blue Mages Make Sad Faces. Magic Online Arcanis the Omnipotent Gameplay!
Our opponent today is playing Uril, the Miststalker. Uril decks are very difficult to beat in 1v1’s because of the fact that he has hexproof. Most Uril builds play auras that give him different abilities (first strike, double strike, lifelink, trample, flying, etc) while also providing him power and toughness pumps. Against a deck like ours, he’s incredibly strong because we have no way to target it, so aside from chump blocking; we have to use mass “removal” such as Evacuation or and overloaded Cyclonic Rift to stop him from hitting our dome.
This game in particular looked incredibly grim from the start, but watch the video to see how things turn out for Arcanis and his wizardly comrades.
